ENBE ASSIGNMENT 1B SHELTER FOR MINIATURE ANIMAL

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

ENBE assignment 1B is a continuation of 1A. We were tasked with selecting a site in Al-Sakinah Resort, Janda Baik for the animal, constructing a shelter and destroying the shelter.

PROCESS

A compulsory trip to Janda Baik was organised last minute but most of the people made it. We went to Al-Sakinah Resort by bus. It was a 2 days 1 night trip. We started off with lunch a followed by selecting our sites around the resort.

Our group consisted of 10 people including me so we had split up the workload and assigned a few people to certain tasks. First, we had to pick a site suitable for the animal we picked. Considering the environment, temperature and its adaptation, we picked a site with still waters near the river with a lot of shade as snakes love dark places. With the river, it helps it to cool down on hot days and act as a source of water for it to drink.

Moving on, we had to conduct a site study on the place we picked, including site inventory, site analysis and site survey. With the site inventory, we had to draw out plan view, perspective view, elevation view and section view of the site we picked. Whereas, site analysis will be covering the 4 domains of the earth system; biosphere, geosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere.

After coming back from Janda Baik, we had to do research on the 4 spheres. We split up the task among a few people. At the same time, we had 2 people working on the last board which covers our animals' shelter/habitat. We had a hard time selecting our colouring method as it was most of our first time using alcohol markers. It was surprisingly faster compared to other methods but cost a lot more.

Overall, it was a first time experience doing a group assignment in college. Presenting the boards was not that bad, although it could be better as we did not include much details into the last board. However, doing this assignment helped me understand the difference between natural and manmade elements. Not forgetting, I've learned new ways of data collection and delivering them through different media and techniques while doing it in an infographic manner/representations.

These are the final results of our 4 boards!
