For our final project, we were given the task to design an atelier in Taman Wawasan Recreational Park. With a given area of 100m2, we had to take into consideration of the person that we are building for. Besides that, it would be the tropical climate response and site context that we have to take into consideration when designing.
The atelier required individual activity spaces for each user to carry out their own activity. Me being with my father, I had to figure out how we could fit both of activities together.

I wanted to design an atelier that focuses on accessibility and at the same time the activities that we carry out. Mostly emphasising on the outdoor activities that we have in common, I wanted to create an outdoor space that allows us to interact with the nature and embracing it with the chosen site and the context. Not forgetting how I could make use of the ramps and the landings to create different individual sensorial experiences that contributes to the sensorial journey. Of course there is still a private space if needed to carry out works that require privacy of some sort, the private louver areas provides that, with the accessibility to the outside and not completely confined by the 4 walls, the louver provides natural ventilation and sunlight, a tropical climate response. Retaining the site's context, plants and contour was one of the main design intention and to be able to work around it is where the play of levels with using ramps and steps come into it.
This assignment really gave me the chance to do something different other than stairs. As a wheelchair user, I wanted to use this opportunity to show how ramps could be integrated in our everyday design. My design exploration and progress was challenge by my tutor and I appreciate how far I've come for my design.
However, due to falling sick a few days before presentation, I wished to be able to improve my drawings and boards. Other than that, I am satisfied with the final outcome of my final project.
